Having something easy to make around the campfire is going to make all the difference on your next camping trip. Try this easy cast-iron lasagna and impress your family members with this delicious meal.
Ingredients

- 2 cups of whole-milk ricotta
- 1 tsp of Italian seasoning
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup of grated Parmesan
- 4 cups of jarred marinara or tomato sauce
- 9 ounces or 12 no-boil lasagna noodles
- 1 pound of crumbled Italian sausage
- Two 8-ounce bags of shredded mozzarella or about 4 cups.
Instructions:
- Combine the ricotta, Italian seasoning, egg and 1/2 cup Parmesan in a medium bowl.
- Add 1/2 cup of marinara sauce and 1/2 cup water to the bottom of a large Dutch oven with a lid.
- Use 3 noodles to fit the bottom of the pan.
- Pour 1 cup sauce over the noodles and spread to cover them completely.
- Add a third of the ricotta mixture on top of the noodles and spread it out until smooth.
- Sprinkle a third of the crumbled sausage on top of the ricotta.
- Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella.
- Repeat these steps 2 more times.
- Finish with another layer of noodles and the remaining 1/2 cup sauce.
- Top with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella and 1/4 cup Parmesan and cover with the lid.
- Prepare coals or a campfire for cooking at medium-high heat.
- Arrange the coals so that the dutch oven can sit in the center without touching any coals.
- Place a few coals on the lid of the Dutch oven.
- Cook for about 20 minutes, rotating the dutch oven occasionally.
- Remove the coals from the lid and take the Dutch oven off of the coals.
- Let sit, covered, for 15 minutes
- Serve and enjoy.
